Creating Base Sites With The Wizard - Russell H. - 08-18-2014 09:18 PM

One of the very powerful and time saving functions with VORTEX is that you can set up basic foundation settings sites using the Base Site Creation Wizard so that you have a new foundation site within seconds of activating VORTEX.

This process can save you hours of time because the wizard will do everything from creating basic pages plus example posts and testimonials so that all you need to do is then edit them.

Its really simple to use the site creation wizard and everything is quite clearly laid out. You can just check the boxes for the functions that you want the wizard to perform and it will do the rest.

Personally,.. I usually always click select all the options and then let the script do its work. Once you have checked all the relevant boxes, the entire process takes just a few seconds (usually about 4 or 5 seconds) and so you'll go from the default WordPress "Hello World" unformatted and unstyled home page to a fully styled foundation site with basic pages and settings all ready for your editing.

NB: Once the Base Site Installation Wizard has finished creating your mew site, you should then select any one of the pre-set custom styles in the "General" tab of the control panel. That will complete the process of base site creation for you. From there you can make whatever content and styling changes you choose.

QUESTION: "What if I overwrite an existing site set up accidentally, - is there anyway to restore the website to the way I had it before?"

ANSWER: Actually you can restore this quite easily!
When the "base site" easy installer is used to create the new base site, all it does it create a bunch of pages (including *Privacy, *Legal, *Terms etc) and adds content to them.

Any previous pages you created will still be there, but now they may not appear in the menu bar because it was reset. You can go into wp-admin/appearance/menus and reset the pages that will appear in the header and footer menus.

Then,.. if say you had a previous page named "About" and it was overwritten, all you need to do is activate a page revision. The page revisions panel with links to previous page versions (auto saves) are on the page editor at the bottom. Just select a page version that was active before you did the auto site activation and it will be restored back.
